Fitness Tips for Life – Making Health & Fitness A Lifestyle

Like the beginning of the year, many of us try to make resolutions to improve our health and fitness. While having specific goals is important, a lot of people go to extremes to fulfill these goals.

Whether it be a new diet, doing more training, or starting something completely new. Many people end up exhausting their mental and physical energy in the process. This usually causes many people to quit exercising, unable to maintain consistency, and prevent them from reaching their goals

Because of this, it is worthwhile to revaluate your goals often. That means ditching unrealistic goals and change your lifestyle instead.

If you start to view health and fitness as a lifestyle, rather than a hobby or some challenge, you end up changing areas of your life that can teach you discipline, adaptability, and balance. This will end up making you feel better, look better, and have much more energy to reach your goals.

It’s More Than How You Look

Health and fitness often gets mistaken for fitness and body image. When it should be more about the way you feel, quality of life, ability to move, and your overall psychological state.

When you are truly healthy, your mood will change for the better, and physically you will be able to do more. You will be able to do more things like going hiking, walking the dog, play fun sports. When you are unable to do these types of activities, it can drastically impact your quality of life and the experiences you may have.

A Good Way To Set An Example

When you choose to live a healthy lifestyle, you not only improve your own life, but you also help set a good example for the people around you. This includes your friends, family, and people you exercise with.

Often when you make big changes like this, people around you will get inspired to make the same changes to their lives.

This can result in better relationships, friendships, and generally a healthier and happier world.

Stay Away From Changes That Aren’t Realistic

With there being hundreds of different diets and workout challenges, often people jump on these thinking they will change their fitness and lifestyle for the better. However, these types of diets and workouts are often unrealistic, as they require you to go at 100 MPH all the time.

Unfortunately, humans don’t work that way. Life happens, stress comes and goes, and schedules can constantly change.

Instead, when we learn to choose to live a healthy lifestyle, we learn to better accept these changes. That’s because when you learn to live a healthy lifestyle, habits get developed that can be followed regardless of your schedule, stress, or general life changes.

Simple habits that become normal include traveling with resistance bands, creating a bodyweight circuit routine, or using natural resources for a workout. This prevents you from stressing about not having access to a gym, bike, or another piece of equipment you rely on.

Focus On Consistency
While some people can get results following a workout challenge or diet can happen. The percentage of people that follow through with these is few and far between. Workout challenges are often completed in a short space of time and follow strict guidelines for success. Both of these aren’t good for your overall well-being and often bring people down, rather than bring them up.

The same goes for unrealistic goals. You are more likely to feel defeated if you cannot complete the goal or even a session. Instead, when you set lower expectations, consistency improves as well as your fitness and overall health.

Give up competing with people
